Foot Surgery in East Patchogue, Centereach, Riverhead, Medford, & Commack, NY

If you are struggling with foot problems that are causing discomfort or pain, foot surgery can provide long lasting relief. From simple bunion problems to painful arthritis of the ankle, foot surgery can be performed to treat a variety of foot and ankle problems. At Suffolk Foot & Ankle, our board-certified foot and ankle surgeons are here to help.

Types of Foot Surgery

Foot surgery can provide relief for a variety of foot and ankle problems. Following surgery and a recovery period of usually just a few weeks, patients are able to walk and move about with greater ease than before foot surgery. Some surgical procedures only take about one hour, while others can be completed in just a few hours. More complicated foot surgeries can take longer. In most cases, patients should be able to return home the same day. Foot surgery can improve many conditions, including:

  • Hammer toes
  • Bunions
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Metatarsal problems
  • Achilles tendon injuries
  • Tibias posterior dysfunction
  • Arthritis of the ankle

Foot surgery to treat hammer toes, bunions and plantar fasciitis are usually quite brief and only take about an hour. Patients can return home the same day. For every type of foot surgery, there will be a recovery period of several weeks. During this time it is important to limit the amount of stress on the feet to allow for complete recovery. For some patients, this means staying off their feet and not walking around too much.

Other conditions, such as metatarsal problems and arthritis of the ankle, involve more complicated surgical procedures or recovery times. For instance, surgery for ankle arthritis can involve ankle fusion, triple fusion or ankle replacement. While the surgical procedure itself only takes between one and two hours to complete, patients usually require a longer hospital recovery time post surgery before returning home.

You do not have to continue suffering with foot pain and discomfort. Foot surgery can provide much-needed relief and help you achieve improved mobility.
